I'm late, I'm late! For a very important date!

A.k.a. The story of my life I've done this thing, ever since I was in elementary school, where I never show up on time. And I mean NEVER . Anyone who knows me personally is probably like no shit. My boyfriend did this thing for a while where he would tell me an event started 15-20 minutes earlier than it actually was scheduled just so I would show up kind of on time. I'm late for work, late for meals, late for dates (sorry, boo!), late for movies, late to parties, I go to sleep late, and of course I always, always, always wake up late. Me and my Ma at my 1st birthday party. We probably showed up late. I think this all started back in elementary school. I lived out of district so my mom had to drive me there every morning. When I say we lived out of district, I mean we lived practically on the other side of town. We were late to school every damn day. The lady in the office would ask me why I was late so she could write me a tardy slip. Most of time I made things up,

Confessions of a #GIRLBOSS/Saint

Forgive me, Internet, for I have sinned... Okay. Confession time. My first two blog posts were made at work. I KNOW. Who am I!? I'm really not a terrible employee. I get all my work done on time and it's done correctly. It's just that sometimes there's not a lot of work to be done. So lately instead of mindlessly browsing the internet I'm trying to be a little more productive in my time spent online. Hence the start of this blog! (Disclaimer: I realize the risk of putting this information online, but I've made the commitment to be completely honest on here. While I do sometimes feel guilty for using my work time to do non-work related things, I'm not really provided with a lot of opportunities to move up or fill my time otherwise. So here we are.) Over the weekend I started reading Sophia Amoruso's #GIRLBOSS and let me tell you, I'm only 50 pages in and I'm already really fucking motivated. She definitely tells it how it is- no sugar coatin

St. Ana: A Herstory

Carlos Santana, or nah? Despite the name of this blog, I don't consider myself a religious person. I was raised in a Catholic household and a majority of my family was raised the same way. Needless to say Catholicism has always been present in my life and I would be lying (A SIN! jk) if I said it didn't influence me. I'm interested in many concepts of organized religion even though I don't think it's right for me. The idea of using the theme of Saints for my blog stemmed from my name, Santana. Upon meeting me many people ask if I was named after Carlos Santana. Which is like, fine or whatever, but I think it would be really weird if my parents were that obsessed with a guitarist. Also, Santana is typically a last name and for many people in this region that can be confusing. I don't know many individuals (with the exception of men on sports teams) who prefer being called by their last name, but people sometimes think that's what's happening. Na

I'm feelin'... 23?!

Hi, hello, hola, howdy, etc. Santana here!  I'm starting a blog and it's starting here, right now- today! I've been thinking about doing this for a while now. Ever since I graduated I felt the need to create a space to express myself (corny, I know). Apparently it was something I took for granted while going to school. Getting to walk into a space everyday dedicated to creating, learning, and experimenting had its own energy that I've yet to find somewhere else. After months (basically a year) of feeling unmotivated and somewhat lost I'm taking it upon myself to create my own space to learn and grow. So, welcome to that space!  I just turned 23 two days ago. I'm not sure exactly what 23-year-olds are supposed to be doing at this point in their lives but I figured it was a good time to start a blog. I'll be updating hopefully rather frequently and I'm excited to start something new. Let's see where this goes!
