MAC, don't kill my vibe

Warning: This is a v rant-like post. If you're not interested in a rant-like post about cultural appropriation then I would suggest leaving now and maybe going here. Otherwise, welcome to my rant-like post.

While I was casually scrolling through my Instagram feed recently I came across a post from @lalaromero featuring a screen cap that I immediately recognized as an article from Refinery29, a well known fashion and lifestyle blog. The photo and caption are below:

MAC's official quote on the inspo behind this collection "has absolutely no connection nor was it inspired by the Native American cultures." The collection is said to be inspired solely by summer music festivals. This feels problematic to my heart, esp as they get ready to launch the Selena stuff. With colors in this collection like Arrowhead & Adobe Brick I am literally so confused. Maybe I'm being "too sensitive" or maybe MAC is dead wrong for this bullshit. Look we are all just trying to…

Weekend Adventures

Happy Tuesday everybody!
I overslept this morning after some bizarre dreams and woke up thinking it was Wednesday. I'm kind of sad it isn't hump day...
I'm currently eating some quinoa curry at my desk on my lunch break. It's kinda sad, but at least I have a job, AMIRITE?! Anyway, this curry came out amaaaaazing. I ended up eating a lot of junky food over the weekend thanks to a lack of planning and my non-vegan family hosting a very non-vegan mother's day dinner. There was some stuff I could eat (grilled veggies, chips and guac, etc.), but I ended up indulging in soda and maybe too much chips and dip. Come Monday morning I woke up feeling like a bus ran over me. I was eager to get back on track with my eating habits. I spent a good chunk of time browsing quick vegan meals on Pinterest and eventually stumbled on this recipe. I ended up modifying it quite a bit to use ingredients I already had. Instead of garam masala I used regular curry powder (still delish, btw).…

Lil Yachty is cray but in a good way.

My boyfriend's first solo show is opening in like 8 days and I'm really excited for him. I've always loved his work but I think this new body of work is particularly strong and I'm pumped that so many people will get to see it!

Our family was recently hit with some pretty harsh news that I'm still trying to process. In short, a close family member of mine was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia.
Send good vibes/prayers/thoughts/whatever you can.

Vegan Eats

So far this vegan thing aint too bad! Actually, it's not bad at all. I'm enjoying a lot of aspects of a vegan diet and I've been trying to keep track of my favorite meals so far. I've pictured a few of them below! (I apologize in advance for the terrible lighting in my house.)

First up is a gluten free hummus wrap. Awwww yeah. It's super simple (in fact, all of these are ridiculously simple) and really tasty! I use my homemade jalapeƱo hummus as a base on a rice tortilla and then basically pile on whatever veggies I have on hand. Usually that includes spinach, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and maybe sliced carrots if I feel like taking the time to slice carrots. This is something I throw together for lunch quite a bit during the week.
Next is a pretty typical vegan brekkie: oatmeal and fruit. I swear there's oatmeal under all that fruit! I eat overnight oats basically every morning during the week but on the weekends it's nice to cook oats and have a warm …
