Weekend Adventures

I had one of those weekends where you're too busy doing all the things.

I spent a majority of the weekend crashing with one of my oldest friends. Her (new-ish!) fiancé went out of town so she decided to have a girls' weekend at her place. We made cocktails, ate junk food, watched Netflix, slept on an inflatable mattress, and last but not least, listened to a lot of Selena. Like for real, we love Selena. These are things we've been doing since we were in elementary school (minus the cocktails and Netflix for obvious reasons) and it was fun to get to 'relive' those old memories! 
Anything for Selenas

An old friend of mine happened to be visiting this weekend so I also got to spend some time with him. He moved to Albuquerque for college and is now running for city council there! He's one of the most dedicated and driven people I know. I guess you kinda have to be if you're running for public office in your early twenties! 

Salsa Fest was also this weekend. I missed the tasting competition again (second year in a row!) and I'm kind of still upset about it. I still got to walk around and drink some wine though, so it's all good. 

I was so busy that I forgot to take photos or document any part of my weekend, but I think that's a good thing! It's easy to get caught up in social media when you're out and about and want to share your fun experiences, but often times that can cause people to miss out on a actually experiencing anything. It's definitely one of my pet peeves. I hate seeing people at an event with their phones glued to their faces. I'm glad I was able to enjoy my (busy) weekend and actually appreciate it!

ABQ Adventures

If you've read my last couple of posts you know that I've been busy putting together a zine for the ABQ Zine Fest which was just this past weekend!  The final product along side our custom pins! We ended up pulling together a pretty good variety of work to put into the zine. Early on we decided to keep it purely visual and use as little text as possible. I thought it was a pretty interesting approach considering that most zines I'd seen either had a combination of both text and visuals or just text. I'm not sure if that idea just wasn't as appealing as I thought it would be or if it wasn't the right audience, but we didn't end up selling that many. Initially I was disappointed with the lack of sales, but  it wasn't because I was expecting to make a ton of money.  I was mostly disappointed because it didn't seem to grab people's attention like I thought. That New New

Welcome to the new year! I've been slacking with blogging (like months of absence) but I'm back at it. If nothing else the new year at least motivates me to do things. It just feels like a good time to get shit done. New year, new bed. Lots has happened since the last time I posted. 1. Got not one, but TWO, new jobs. My "day" job is at NMSU working for a department called Media Productions. We're stationed within the college of agriculture and I work as a graphic designer for print and digital media. Basically I make logos and promotional media for different groups associated with the college of ag. The agriculture department is one of the biggest on campus and has programs all over the state so I'm getting to do work for a variety of different clients. I made a joke with an old colleague that I'd be editing pics of horses all day but that has yet to happen. The main program I'm working with focuses on nutrition and cooking for those on S
